Natsberry
About the project
Natsberry is a mobile application originally developed with jQuery Mobile and later updated to Ionic to improve performance, scalability, and user experience. The app was created as a recipe platform where the owner could publish and manage her own culinary creations. Designed with everyday use in mind, it allows users to organize their meals, adjust serving sizes, and automatically generate shopping lists for ingredients. Beyond meal planning, it also provides powerful features such as recipe search filters, saving favorite dishes, viewing preparation steps, and tracking nutritional information like calorie levels.
The application was aimed at offering a practical yet engaging experience for users seeking both inspiration and structure in their cooking routines. Its combination of usability, customization, and health-focused features made it more than just a recipe app—it became a complete personal assistant for meal preparation and planning.
My role
I was a pioneer in the development of Natsberry, taking charge of its UI, UX, information architecture, and visual identity. From the early stages, I worked closely with the app’s owner and partners to translate their vision into a functional and engaging product. Using jQuery Mobile, I designed and implemented interactive layouts with touch-based navigation, smooth transitions, and lightweight animations tailored for mobile devices. This allowed us to quickly build the first version of the app and deliver a working product that users could interact with on both iOS and Android.
Later, I led the migration and update of the app to Ionic, leveraging its component-based structure and hybrid mobile capabilities. I configured themes, palettes, and reusable components to ensure a consistent look across devices, while also implementing native-like features such as responsive navigation, modal flows, and animated transitions. My collaboration extended to managing technical integration, guiding design decisions, and coordinating closely with the team to ensure scalability. This update not only modernized the platform but also enhanced interactivity, usability, and long-term maintainability, ensuring the app could continue to grow alongside its community.
